Privacy

The short version

You can use this entire site without telling us who you are. If you never sign in, we never learn your email address, and your course progress stays in your own browser. If you do sign in, we store your email address and a copy of your progress so it follows you to other devices. That is the whole of it. We do not sell anything to anyone, and there is no advertising network on this site.

If you never sign in

Your lessons, XP, badges and streak are saved in your browser’s local storage. That is on your device, not our server. Clearing your browser data clears it, and we have no copy and no way to get it back.

If you do sign in

We store two things:

• Your email address, so we can send you a sign-in link and recognise you next time. There is no password, because we would rather not hold one.
• Your course progress: which lessons you have finished, your quiz scores, badges and the days you were active.

The lawful basis is performing the service you asked for: you cannot have progress that follows you between devices without us keeping a copy of it.

The newsletter

Only if you tick the box, and the box is never ticked for you. If you leave it alone, the only emails you will ever get from us are sign-in links. If you tick it, your address goes to Kit, who send the emails, and every one of them has a one-click unsubscribe. The lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time without giving a reason.

Who else touches your data

• Supabase stores accounts and progress. Our database is hosted in London.
• Vercel hosts the site and serves the pages.
• Kit stores newsletter subscribers, and only if you opted in.
• Google Analytics tells us which pages get read. We use it to decide what to write next, not to build a profile of you.

Some of these are based outside the UK and EU, so your data may be transferred there under the safeguards in their own terms.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Delete the account and the email address and progress go with it immediately. We do not keep a shadow copy.

Your rights

You can see, correct, export or delete your data, object to how we use it, and complain to the ICO if you think we have got it wrong. Deleting is self-serve: the button is on your account page and it takes effect straight away. For anything else, email privacy@learnwithzavi.com.

Children

The courses are written for adults at work and accounts are not intended for under-13s. Everything on the site can be read without an account, so a younger reader never needs to give us anything.
