At the start of this course, AI may have felt like something other people understood. Now you know what it actually is, how to have a conversation with it, what it is good for, and how to protect yourself and your family from the people who misuse it.

That is a real achievement. Take a moment to notice it.

What you now know

Here is the whole course in six short reminders:

1. It is a well-read program, not a person. It predicts helpful replies and it is sometimes wrong.
2. You cannot break it. There is no wrong question and no wrong way to type.
3. Talk to it like a knowledgeable friend. Give it the situation, ask follow-ups, and ask it to explain more simply whenever you like.
4. Use it for everyday jobs. Letters, recipes, trips, hobbies and leaflets, while always checking health, money and legal decisions with a professional.
5. Make its drafts your own. And keep personal details out of what you type.
6. Hang up and call back. On a number you already know, whenever anyone asks for money or details. And agree a family code word.

Keep going at your own pace

There is no rush and no timetable. The most useful thing you can do now is simply to use it a little, for things you actually care about.

A gentle idea: once a week, bring it one small real job. A question about the garden. Help with an email. An explanation of something in the news. Over a few weeks it will start to feel as ordinary as looking something up in a book.

Some weeks you may not use it at all, and that is fine. Nothing is lost. When you come back, everything you learned here will still work, because the basics of asking a clear question and checking what matters do not change, even when the tools themselves do.
